Holiday Festivities Continued and Merry Christmas!

Pics from the weekend's round of parties and holiday cheer. I'm back in California for the holidays and couldn't be happier! After one of the craziest weeks at work yet, it's nice to be back with family and friends (in 60 degree weather!) I'm currently prepping our Christmas day dinner, more to come on that! Merry Christmas!!

Chestnuts roasting....

Maybe it's the lack of snow or the 60 degree weather we've been having, but it just hasn't felt much like the holiday season!  It creeps up faster and faster each year, but I really couldn't tell you what I did between September and now, it's all a blur.  In an effort to get in to the Christmas spirit I've been partaking in anything and everything Christmas!  Baking, window strolling, visiting the tree in Rockefeller Center, drinks at Rolf's, all while listening to Mariah Carey's "All I want for Christmas" on repeat! It seems to be working!  Now I'm gearing up for a weekend full of holiday parties before heading home next week.

First Ever Occupy Bond Street

A friend and client of my dad's recently invited me to a fall dinner in the cellar of Il Buco.  I brought along my cousin who I knew would enjoy the wine/food/good company as much as I would!

The night started with passed appetizers and of course, amazing wine!  We mingled before sitting down to the long wooden dining table.  We were immediately transported back to what felt like a vintage wine cellar in a family home somewhere in Italy!  As we sat to dinner, we were told that we would stay until all the wine was drunk, and that all appetites were satiated, a tall order but we were up for the challenge!

The night was full of fun and laughter, speeches were made (myself included after a few too many glasses of wine), life lessons gained from our elders, and we somehow ended up at karaoke in China town, as all good Sunday nights should end!

The kale salad was to die for!
Any Abba song really gets us going-playing to a crowd of 2 hah

Home for Thanksgiving-Part Two

While the week at home was full of wine tasting, visiting friends, and even a little shopping-let's face it, Thanksgiving is all about the food!  We had a warm up "friends-giving" at my brother's new house in Napa, I tried this stuffing recipe-I've never made stuffing before, it couldn't have been easier and was a huge hit!

For actual Thanksgiving, we went to my aunt and uncle's house, my contributions were brussels sprouts and cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream, I made mini chocolate cupcakes that paired so well with this frosting!

I'm now back in NY and detoxing from a week full of over-indulgences (they were SO worth it!)

Home for Thanksgiving-Part One

It's the most wonderful time of the year-at least that's what "they" say and I firmly agree!  I just returned from 10 glorious days at home.  I hadn't been home since last Christmas, the longest I've ever gone without a visit!  It was so nice, although I can't say it was relaxing as I tend to book myself solid with friends, family, food, and visits to my favorite places, nonetheless it was just the breath of fresh air I was craving.

I would say this glass is half full-life is good!

Back to School

It had been 3 years since I went back to school, last weekend I met my two best friends for homecoming weekend.  I've been anticipating this weekend for months now (we booked the hotel in April!) and was so excited to see the girls, it had been over a year since I'd seen both of them, we vowed at the end of the weekend to not let that much time go by again!

While the main focus of our weekend was catching up and reminiscing about old times, I'm not gonna lie, we made the rounds with a culinary food tour of Oxford!  All our old favorites were still there, along with a few new places.

It was a beautiful sunny weekend, we walked around campus, checked out the new business school (and movie set for George Clooney's Ides of March), tailgated, and even went to the football game (we won!).  Both nights we went out with my friend's younger brother who is still a sophomore.  The weekend made me want to go back and do it all over again.  I remember having such ups and downs throughout college, questioning my choice to even go where I did, but senior year ended on such an amazing note, I'd love to relive that year again and again!
The minute we got in to town our first stop was Skipper's for waffle fries!  Senior year when none of us had serious classes we'd come here around 2pm on Wednesdays ($1 drafts) and spend the afternoon sitting outside for hours, such good times!

Fav bar is still standing and as popular as ever!
We convinced one guy friend to make the trip with us for a night!

The infamous late night Clinton-pizza stuffed inside a grilled cheese, sounds awful but it's the best invention ever!  I of course got pepperoni on whole wheat bread-you know for health reasons and all!  (and yes those are more waffle fries in the background-we didn't hold back)
