Ellie Goulding Live fron NY!

A friend recently invited me to a private acoustic performance by British artist Ellie Goulding on the rooftop of the Atlas building in Harold Sq.  I was familiar with the Atlas building after watching several seasons of Project Runway, but it was the perfect backdrop for an intimate night of music on a gorgeous late summer night, the weather was incredible and it was an almost full moon.

Lucky sponsored the event, complete with a fabulous bar and magazines to take home!
Background is just too perfect-seems fake!

Not a bad stage!

Indian Summer Picnic

Mother nature started to hint at fall this past week, but we took full advantage of the blue sunny skies this weekend for a picnic in central park.  I used to spend every Saturday laying out in central park when I lived on the upper west side.  Since moving downtown, I can't say I make it up there as often as I would like.  I spent the morning trying out new recipes to share with friends over a few bottles of rose.  It was the perfect Sunday afternoon, now if only we could get a few more days of 75+ degrees to hold on to the last moments of summer-but I'll take these crisp sunny days any time!

Strawberry mint balsamic flatbread-I used this recipe and it was surprisingly easy if you've got the time to let it rise!
My first experience cooking with quinoa-southwest style with blackbeans corn, cilantro and avocado!
And for dessert-mixed berry pie bars
A summer favorite-prosciutto and melon

Gilt City Takes the Hamptons

I was recently invited to attend a series of events at the Gilt City Hamptons House.  Gilt City partnered with several well known chefs and restaurateurs for a series of exclusive dinners and brunches at a private estate in Bridgehampton.  It was nothing short of fabulous.  Good food, good drinks, and good company, in a majestic east end setting, what more could we ask for?? Sorry for the onslaught of photos, unfortunately they don't even do these events justice.  Until next year.....

First-Brunch hosted by Sam Talbot of Imperial #9 and Surf Lodge-or Top Chef if you go way back
I've loved Sam Talbot since his season on Top Chef-he did not dissapoint!
Cheers!
I've never been a grits fan-heirloom hominy grits from south carolina changed all that
getting artistic
Backyard Fun
Brunch with Sam Talbot turned into a pool party with margaritas and poolside frozen grapes, life is good!
What I wouldn't give for a backyard to entertain in like this!
Next up-an intimate evening with Dan Kluger of ABC Kitchen.  Cocktails on the lawn followed by a mind-blowing meal.  The perfect way to begin labor day weekend in the hamptons!

Itty bitty moon and a pink sky

Ready for the meal of a lifetime
Strawberry and goat cheese salad
Spaghetti with shrimp
Main course was a choice of fried chicken, braised pork belly, and halibut.  I had the pork belly, but was so enthralled I didn't have a chance to snap a pic!
Donuts-and these are no Dunkin' variety
Strawberry tart, never had anything like it

And finally, a Sunday supper with the Scotto family.  Sunday Italian dinner in all its red-sauce glory.  Marion is a gem-and I was honored to tell her that I spent my first Christmas Eve dinner in New York at her restaurant in the 7th grade, I knew from that trip that this was the place for me.
Beautiful table, and prosciutto wrapped breadsticks-I die!
Marion Scotto of Fresco by Scotto
Gorgonzola zucchini and potato chips-unreal!

Still having dreams about this pasta
Nothin' like a good ball!
Key Lime Meringue-enough said
Stuffed and ready to drive back to the city

Battle of the Lobsta' Roll

Throughout the summer, I've had the opportunity to sample some of the best seafood that the East End has to offer.  Lobster rolls included.  Lobster in general is a new thing for me, but as soon as I took my first bite of the buttery goodness, I was a changed woman!

I've sampled the lobster rolls at Lunch in Montauk, Cyril's Fish House, Claws on Wheels, and the Clam Bar.  I have to say, Clam bar was my favorite.  The perfect blend of not too much mayonnaise, and huge chunks of sweet juicy lobster on a buttery roll, mmm perfection!  I think this trend might just have to continue past the summer and into the City-Luke's I'm coming for you!

8 Lobster rolls please!
Cheers to the last lobster rolls of the summer
Fresh catch of the day at Clam Bar

The many amazing offerings at Claws on Wheels in East Hampton
