Restaurant Round Up - July Eats

Jumping right in to a month full of eeeeeats!

If you're looking for a casual, neighborhood Italian spot, look no further than Malaparte.  My whole roasted branzino was delicious, as were the pizzas, pastas, and salads enjoyed by everyone at our table.  Go here when you can't get into Barbuto across the street!

And when you need a casual spot for a group dinner that won't break the bank....Speedy Romeo on the LES is a great option!  Delicious pizzas, salads, (and chicken wings from the wood burning oven on Wednesday nights), plus they offer no corkage on the first 3 bottles and then $15 for every bottle after that!  The "Kind Brother" pizza was the clear winner but the "Paul's Boutique" with Katz's pastrami on an everything seed crust was something pretty special as well.

I enjoyed a delicious dinner at the James Beard House hosted by Brandon Thordarson of Moxie's.  A highlight was his take on "canned tuna".

This month I ventured out to Astoria Seafood for a choose-your-own seafood adventure, another plus, it's BYOB!

An ill-fated trip to the Rockaways led us to Red Hook instead where we feasted on BBQ at Hometown.  Those ribs were something else!

I finally got the try Loring Place, everything was so full of flavor and delicious!  We had a green bean salad with peaches and goat cheese, a roasted strawberry salad, roast duck and the infamous blizzard sundae that was out of the world good!!

We celebrated an office birthday with treats from Daily Provisions, the new all-day cafe from the folks behind Union Square Cafe.  I had the everything croissant with cream cheese and smoked salmon but the maple cruller is where it's at!  The everything croissants at City Bakery are much better and there wasn't nearly enough salmon to make it a sandwich.

We celebrated National Ice Cream day with cones from Mister Dips at the William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg.  They have a great set up with a lawn and some tables and chairs with views of Manhattan. I'd love to go back for a burger and a glass of rose on a summer night!

Revisited an old fav for brunch.  That Heebster is something else!

And that's a wrap on July eats!
